The Halftime Whistle Blows on the Making Space for Nature Project!

17 July 2024

As we reach the halfway mark of the Making Space for Nature project, we’ve been taking stock of all the work that, together with you, we’ve achieved so far:  We’ve seen genuine active participation from over 450 individuals who, amongst them, represent over 200 different organisations, bodies, businesses and affiliations from across the county. We’ve been doing our best to seek out the less obvious stakeholders, talking to everyone from young farmers, school teachers and their pupils, golf courses and tourist attractions, and we’ve been addressing the Local Nature Recovery Strategy development from as many different perspectives as we can, from health and access, to heritage considerations, with the key objective of nature recovery underpinning everything we do.  As a result of this collaboration, we can see our Local Nature Recovery Strategy really taking shape, as our priorities and measures for nature recovery continue to be refined over the coming months.

But it isn’t time to rest on our laurels yet, as we now approach the part of the LNRS development that will bring everything together as a complete strategy:  the mapping stage.

Where should we focus future nature recovery work?  How do we stitch together the tapestry of nature recovery action that is already happening across the county?  For a final time, we need you to join us at our September mapping workshops, to complete this last piece of the LNRS puzzle.

We will be covering as much of the county as we can with these five workshops, starting in Folkestone, and working our way North and West throughout the month – you can find details, tickets and locations at the link below – be quick, tickets are already booking up fast!
