Upcoming Workshops!
17 January 2024
As we launch ourselves into 2024, the Making Space for Nature project is gearing up for our first series of in-person events, which will offer an important opportunity to engage in the Local Nature Recovery Strategy development process. From the end of January, we will be hosting workshops across Kent to begin the conversation on the first two questions we need to answer, in order to develop our nature recovery strategy.
Firstly the “why” – what are the key issues the strategy needs to address and the opportunities it needs to realise? And then the “what” – what are the outcomes the county would like to see for nature. By the end of these workshops, we will have a long list of potential priorities – a “wish list”, if you like – created by you and informed by the threats and opportunities, that gets to the heart of what really matters to us all and identifies all the many ambitions we hope to achieve for nature in Kent.
The Local Nature Recovery Strategy’s priorities will be created by a refinement of this long list, which in turn will lead us to the actions that will deliver these, and the areas of Kent and Medway where this action will be focussed. It is really important that we hear as many views as possible in this early stage, so that the long list is as representative as possible, enabling us to develop priorities that everyone can recognise as integral to reversing nature’s decline. And if you want the things that matter to you reflected in the strategy, we need your input from the start.
The workshops, listed below, will be full day events with lunch thrown in to fuel all our hard work! But if a whole day is more than you can do, you are welcome to join for the morning or afternoon, or even just to drop in to give us your views. A full programme of the day will be released soon.

South Kent area – 1st February @ Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Ashford
North Kent area – 6th February @ Riverside Country Park, Gillingham
